Poetry by Goldgirl

I have been writing Haikus and Limericks.  Here are some I want to show you.

Autumn Leaves

The leaves falling fast
Whispering to the wild wind
And tickling my toes.

The Moon

The glittering moon
Tells me it is time for bed
Shining way above.

Gardens

Gardens are nature
and colourful creations
smiling at me.

A Funny Bunny

There once was a mummy bunny
Who acted very funny.
She called for me and asked for tea
So I brought her toast and honey.

I hope you liked my poems.

Making a Clay Butterfly

To make a clay butterfly you will need:

1.  colourful paint and paint easel

2.  a thin brush

3.  a quarter of a DAS block of modelling clay (you can get them from The Warehouse)

4.  a clean hard surface that you can paint on.  I used a placemat.

First of all, divide the clay into 3 pieces.  One will be for the body and antennas, and one for each wing.  Shape the body by rolling it and then make 2 little antennas for the top.  Then make the wings, which are the hard part because they need to be the same size and shape as each other.  If you want your butterfly to be very smooth, put a little water on your fingers and lightly rub them on the body.

If you want patterns on the butterfly's wings, use the end of your paintbrush and sketch in any design you want.  It has to be the same on both sides.

Next, you have to wait for the clay to dry.  It takes a long time, it might even take a whole week!
Here are some photos of me waiting and getting a bit bored because I really want to paint my butterfly.

I've just woken up and I'm still waiting!!

Finally, my butterfly is dry!

Its time to paint it.  This is the fun part.  Choose the colours you want.  The bright ones look very pretty.  If you have very light colours, it is best to do 2 or 3 coats of paint.

Let it dry in a warm sunny place.  Any animals can ruin your butterfly if you don't put it in a safe place to dry.  It might take a night.

Here is my finished butterfly dancing happily with me!  It is finished!

Byebye.  See you next time!
